Pitbull Saves Baby Girl From Burning House
8-month old Pitbull Sasha came to the rescue when a fire broke out in her family's California apartment.
Pitbulls have an unfortunate reputation for being an aggressive breed, but in reality, like many other breeds, when raised by responsible pet owners, they are one of the most caring dogs you can find.
Not only are they caring, but they are also very loyal and brave. So loyal, they are willing to do whatever it takes to keep their family safe from harm. California resident, Nana Chaichanhda, witnessed this last year. Sasha, an 8-month-old pitbull, alerted Chaichanhda of a fire that broke out in her apartment building during the night.
Sasha alerted the family by banging into the back door of the house as the fire started. "I open it and she runs in and starts barking at me like crazy and I like, 'OK, this is weird. This is not like her," Chaichanhda told Fox 40.
When Chaichanhda ran into her baby's bedroom, she found Sasha already there, dragging the 7-month-old baby off the bed by the diaper, trying to save the little girl. "She had already had my baby by the diaper and was dragging her off the bed," she said. "I was like, 'Oh my gosh, what are you doing?"
Firefighters responded quickly to the emergency and were able to save most of the building, but Chaichanhda's home and her neighbor's home was damaged and uninhabitable. "Thanks to Sasha, we were able to get out safely and call 911," Chaichanhda wrote on a GoFundMe page intended to raise funds after her home was damaged in the fire.
Chaichanhda credits her pitbull, Sasha, with saving their lives. "If she hadn't begun barking like that, I never would have realized something was wrong. I owe her everything. If it wasn't for her, I would have still been in bed and things could have taken a worse turn."
Chaichanhda hopes this story helps to change people's views about pitbulls.
